AKHMETBEKOV NURKHAN

((1903, Zhaskeshu village of Dzhangelda district of Kostanay region - 1964, Torgai village) - Kazakh composer, singer, dombrist, poet - improviser, people's akyn of the Kazakh SSR. His poems and ballads on historical themes are known, dedicated to such eternal values as friendship, love for the native land.

Nurkhan Akhmetbekov was no less famous for his participation in aitys. The author of dastans based on the oriental fairy tales "One Thousand and One Nights" - " «Қамарлы заман», «Албан Жұпар ханым». Akhmetbekov's dastans -  «Есім сері», «Қарға» about real events in the Turgai steppe, in the dastan "Kulandam" is written about the famine of 1932-1933 in the Kazakh steppe. In the works "Amangeldy", "The Battle of Urpek" described the national liberation uprising led by A. Imanov in 1916.
