Monument on the grave of Hero of the Soviet Union I.F. Pavlov (1922 – 1950)

Ivan Fomich Pavlov (1922 – 1950) was born in the village of Boris-Romanovka, Kostanay region. After graduating from the Chkalov Military Aviation School, in June 1942, he went to the front. I.F. Pavlov made 250 sorties during the war. In February 1944, Ivan Fomich Pavlov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

On February 23, 1945, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR awarded I.F. Pavlov the second Gold Star medal. After the end of the war

  1. F. Pavlov was sent to study at the M.V. Frunze Air Force Academy, from which he successfully graduated in 1949.
  2. F. Pavlov tragically died on October 12, 1950 in the line of duty, during a night training flight. On October 20, he was solemnly buried at the city cemetery in Kostanay – now the Alley of Heroes in Victory Park.

Description of the monument

Dating of the monument: 1950.

Location: Kostanay, Victory Park

The bronze bust is placed on a rectangular marble pedestal. I. F. Pavlov is depicted in the equipment of a WWII pilot. A memorial inscription in two languages is carved on the front face of the pedestal: "Pavlov Ivan Fomich (1922-1950) twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Major of the Guards." At the base of the pedestal is a tombstone made of rectangular granite.

The dimensions of the tombstone are 0.6 m x 2m x 5 m. The height of the pedestal is 1.5 m., the height of the bust is 1 m.  The material is bronze, marble, granite.

The author of the monument is unknown.
