(1918, Shili village of Zhangeldinsky district of Kostanay region - 1974) - poet, writer, translator, statesman and public figure.
K.Zharmaganbetov is the founder of the ballad genre in Kazakh literature. He translated into Kazakh the novel by I.S.Turgenev "Fathers and Children", poems by Russian and foreign poets. He is one of the authors of "Essays on the history of Kazakh Soviet literature", "Kazakh Soviet literature" for secondary schools. Over the years of his creative activity, K. Zharmaganbetov has published five collections of poems, a prose story about the famous Kazakh singer Amr Kashaubayev, monographs for university students about the works of A.M. Gorky, S. Mukanov, Zh. Zhabaev, M. Auezov, B. Mailin. The central library of the Zhangeldinsky district and one of the streets of the village of Torgai are named after him, a bust is installed. In Shili there is his memorial museum, monument and mausoleum.
