(1872, Sarytubek village, Dzhangeldy district, Kostanay region - 1937) - a great son of the Kazakh people, spiritual leader of the nation, outstanding educator, Turkologist, linguist, reformer of the spelling of the Kazakh language, creator of the first Kazakh textbooks, poet, publicist, founder of the first national newspaper "Kazakh", prominent public and a political figure.
In June 1929, he was arrested on charges of nationalist anti-Soviet activities, sentenced to death, spent two years in Butyrskaya prison in Moscow awaiting execution, in January 1931, replaced by exile for 10 years in the Arkhangelsk region. Only in 1934, at the request of the International Red Cross, he gets the opportunity to return to Alma-Ata, reunite with his family. In October 1937, A.Baitursynov was arrested again and on December 8, 1938, he was shot as a "class enemy" on charges of connection with a terrorist organization – the Turkic People's Party. On November 4, 1988, the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan rehabilitated A.Baitursynov for the absence of corpus delicti in his actions.
