The exhibition presents works from the stock collection of the Kostanay Regional Museum of Local Lore.
The name of Georgy Mikhailovich Sokov (1941-2024), a talented painter, graphic artist, theatrical set designer and teacher, needs no introduction. The artist is widely known, sincerely loved and easily recognizable. Georgy Sokov's works are diverse in genres, technique, and subject matter, but they invariably amaze with their philosophical depth and high skill. The ability to observe and subtly feel life, a careful and reverent attitude towards his native land, a great sense of color and the dynamism of painting techniques earned the artist the sincere love of fellow countrymen and the well-deserved recognition of art connoisseurs far beyond the borders of Kazakhstan.
Georgy Sokov was a member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan, winner of the Award of the Akim of Kostanay region "For outstanding achievements in the field of culture and art", winner of the Award of the Club of Patrons in the nomination "Kazyna". His works are kept in the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after Abylkhan Kasteev, museums of Astana, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Troitsk, Kostanay, as well as in private collections.
Over the years, Georgy Mikhailovich donated paintings, a series of ex-libris, and works of theatrical and decorative art.
