On December 7, 2023, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a meeting of the section of the expert commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information, which considered proposals received from legal entities and individuals for inclusion in the national list of intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The section was attended by: A.A. Zhudebaev, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan; K.K. Seitova, Chairman of the Committee of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Heads of the regional Department of Culture and heads of museums.

Kostanay Regional Museum of Local Lore has presented one of the household items and national applied art - syrmak in the national list of intangible cultural heritage. Felt products have been used by our ancestors since ancient times. There are 11 different syrmaks in the museum's collections. They were manufactured in 1961-2000 in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia. Syrmaks were transferred to the museum by residents of Kostanay region.
