The Fine Arts Department of the Kostanay Regional Museum of History and Local Lore is currently hosting a temporary mini-exhibition, "Journalist. Writer. Personality," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of journalist and writer Salim Tokmyrzaevich Mendybaev.
The exhibition features documentary photographs, awards, books, and personal belongings.
Salim Tokmyrzaevich Mendybaev (1946-2021) was a journalist, writer, and honorary citizen of Kostanay. He is an Honored Cultural Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an Honorary Journalist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and a laureate of the Akim of Kostanay Region Award and the Kazyna Award of the Kostanay Patrons' Club. He was born on July 5, 1946, in the village of Aksuat, Mendykara District, Kostanay Region. He dedicated over 45 years of his life to working at the regional newspaper "Kostanay Taңy," serving as its deputy editor-in-chief from 1999 to 2016. He is the author of fiction and journalistic books, documentary stories, essays, and feature stories. His work focused on stories about the lives of his fellow countrymen and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
